Event Details & What to Expect for 2026
This year, construction in downtown Harriston means we're doing things a little differently.
This year, the event will focus on a Costume Parade and Trick-or-Treating and will take place along the downtown sidewalks, with volunteers helping guide participants through the event.

What to Expect?
- Start your Halloween adventure by entering Tannery Park off of Mill St., Harriston
- Parade around the sidewalks in your costume as part of the "Costume Parade" collecting candy from local businesses & volunteer organizations along the way. Volunteers will direct you along the designated route.
Costumes are highly encouraged!
Changes for 2026
No Pre-Registration; Check-in Required
- There will be NO pre-registration for the event; however, all participants MUST check in to pick up their event pass by entering through the back entrance of Tannery Park upon arrival to collect candy.
- Please note: Only children who have checked in at Tannery Park will receive candy during Trick-or-Treating. Businesses and Organizations will be instructed to look for the designated event pass to show you have checked-in.
Elora Street will remain OPEN
- Elora St., will be open to traffic.
- The event will take place on the sidewalks only.
- Follow the designated route & only cross at cross walks.

While Supplies Last
- The event will run until 8pm or while supplies last.
- To ensure their is enough candy for children, adults will not be able to collect candy.
Bring Your Own Bag
- Bags will not be provided. Participants must bring their own bag to collect candy.
Where Do I Go?
Your first stop is Tannery Park!
- All participants must enter through the back entrance of Tannery Park off of Mill St. to check in.
- Volunteers will direct you to follow the designated route.
- You will be asked to turn left out of Tannery Park, trick-or-treating your way up to the traffic lights, back down the other side of the street, into Haunted Buildings, and end by exiting through the alleyway between the Harriston Town Hall Theatre and Homestyle Bites.
- Parking is available in municipal lots or side street parking. We expect it to be busy, and encourage you to walk if possible!
Construction Information
The rehabilitation of the Young St. Bridge and construction on Arthur St. in Harriston currently ongoing means this year's Halloween Haunt will look a little different.
Elora Street will remain OPEN during the event.
For everyone's safety, the Costume Parade and Trick-or-Treating will take place along the downtown sidewalks rather than in the roadway.
Participants will be directed to follow one route in the same direction. Volunteers will be stationed along the route to help direct the flow of participants. Please follow their directions and stay on the sidewalks throughout the event.
Safety Implementations
- All participants will be directed to follow the same route for trick-or-treating from station to station.
- Crossing guards will be stationed at the Elora & Arthur St intersection (lights) and across from the Cenotaph & Minto Fire hall.
- To avoid congestion on sidewalks, there will be no games and instead the event will focus on the costume parade & trick-or-treating only.
Safety Tips
- Remain on the sidewalks.
- Cross streets only at designated crosswalks and look both ways before crossing.
- Stay clear of vehicles and active roadways.
- Follow the directions and flow of pedestrian traffic around the indicated route of the event.
- Children must be supervised by a trusted adult.

Do I need to register for Halloween Haunt?
No! Registration is not required this year.
You must check-in at Tannery Park upon arrival to participate. Please enter through the back off of Mill St.
Do I still need to check in?
Yes. Everyone participating must check in at Tannery Park when they arrive in order to collect candy.
You will recieve an event pass to indicate you have checked in.

Where will Trick-or-Treating take place?
Trick-or-Treating will take place at tables along the downtown sidewalks hosted by businesses and volunteer organizations.
Why is Halloween Haunt different this year?
Construction in Harriston means Elora Street will remain open and the event will be organized along the sidewalks to help keep participants safe.
Will Elora Street be closed?
No. Elora Street will remain open during the event. Please stay on the sidewalks and use designated crosswalks.
Will volunteers be there to help?
Yes! Volunteers will organize check in and help direct the flow of the Costume Parade and Trick-or-Treating.
Do I need to bring a candy bag?
Yes! Please bring your own bag. Bags will not be provided.
Will every child receive candy?
Candy will be provided to children who have checked in at Tannery Park. The event will run while supplies last. When candy runs out, the event will end.
Can adults participate in the Costume Parade?
Absolutely! Costumes are encouraged for everyone attending. Children must be supervised by a trusted adult.
Where can I find more spooky activities?
Be sure to visit the Haunted Buildings, including the Harriston Town Hall Theatre for additional spooky surprises.
Is there an age limit on this event?
This event is recommended for children 12 and under.
Children are required to have a parent/guardian with them.
Parents/guardians will not be allowed to collect candy to ensure we have enough for children participating.

- 4:30 pm - 6pm: Event Set-Up (final decorations, set-up check-in, etc.) (Ages 14+ needed)
- 6pm - 8pm: Help direct traffic & monitor safety (Ages 18+ needed)
- 8pm - 9pm: Clean-Up (Ages 14+ needed)
